Open Website → Domains and you’ll find controls for three kinds of addresses: your main website, any individual Property sites, and any Landing pages. Each works the same way — buy a domain through REALsite or connect one you already own — but they stay independent. A domain on a property site opens only that one property page; your main domain keeps opening your whole site. Every site starts at a free yourname.myrealsite.ca address. It’s fully live and shareable from day one — a domain of your own is a finishing touch, not a requirement.

Buy a domain through REALsite

Under Need a domain?, type the exact .ca or .com you want and choose Check availability. That opens the REALsite Domains store — powered by OpenSRS — in a new tab, where you search, confirm the price, and check out. Only the exact domain you entered will connect to your page; if you add a different domain in the same store, it stays unconnected. Registration and renewal are billed by the domain store separately from your REALsite subscription — the store shows the price before you pay. While checkout is open, the page shows Waiting for checkout. You can close the store tab or leave the REALsite page — there’s nothing to re-enter and no confirmation button to press here. Once you finish paying, OpenSRS notifies REALsite directly and the connection happens automatically. If the purchase needs a closer look before it can connect, the page tells you and points you to support — your purchase itself is safe either way. Once a domain you bought through REALsite is connected, a Manage registration ↗ button appears. It opens your account at the domain store, where you handle renewals, contact details, and transfers.

Connect a domain you already own

1

Open Already own a domain?

Expand Already own a domain?, type your domain, and choose Connect a domain I own. The DNS records to add appear, each with a Copy button next to it.
2

Add the records at your registrar

Pick where you manage DNS from the list — Cloudflare, GoDaddy, Namecheap, Porkbun, Hover, or Another provider — and REALsite shows directions for finding the right screen, plus a link to that provider’s own illustrated guide. Add each record exactly as shown. If you use Cloudflare for DNS, set each record to DNS only, not Proxied.
3

Check my records

Back on the Domains page, choose Check my records. The status badge tracks progress: Waiting for DNS while REALsite looks for the records you added, then Setting up securely once they’re found and REALsite is issuing the certificate, then Live when your domain is open to visitors.
Setup usually finishes within minutes of the records appearing, though it can take longer. If it’s taking a while, the page says so and keeps retrying in the background — you don’t need to do anything further. Choosing Disconnect stops a domain from opening your REALsite page, but the domain itself stays yours — nothing about your registration changes. Reconnect it later, or point it somewhere else entirely; REALsite doesn’t hold on to it.

Who can do what

Buying a domain, canceling a checkout, and opening Manage registration are limited to the account owner — the person who signed up. This keeps payment and registrar access with one person. An Admin collaborator can still connect or check the records on a domain you already own, from inside REALsite, without ever touching the registrar account or spending money.

What about property sites and landing pages?

The same Domains page holds separate controls for Property-site domains and Landing-page domains, one section down from your main domain. Buying or connecting a domain there follows the same three steps — the only difference is what it opens: a property-site domain shows just that property’s page, and a landing-page domain shows just that campaign’s page. Your main domain is unaffected either way.

What happens to your old address

Whichever way you connect a domain, your old address keeps working. The myrealsite.ca address you started with forwards automatically to your new domain, so anything you’ve already shared — a link, a listing, a saved bookmark — still lands in the right place.
